Jeff Kelly is in his first season at Fort Scott Community College (FSCC). A former All-American linebacker and NFL player, Kelly will serve as the Defensive Coordinator.
Prior to joining the Greyhounds, Kelly served as Defensive Coordinator for Garden City Community College. Under his tenure, Garden City was cited as one of the top defenses in the Jayhawk Conference. Garden City’s defense was third best in the KJCCC in yards per game allowed at 289.2, and 21st in the nation.
Kelly’s college football career also started at Garden City Community College. ESPN describes his sophomore year at GCCC as “record breaking.”
ESPN also cited Kelly’s 1996 recruitment to Kanas State University as one of the “most compelling blue-chip battles in Big 12 history.” Kelly went on to be 1997’s Big 12 Defensive Newcomer-of-the-Year; Captain of the Kansas State team; First Team All-American; and 1998’s Big 12 Defensive Player-of-the-Year.
After college, Kelly was a 1999 NFL sixth round draft pick. Kelly played four seasons with the Atlanta Falcons and one season with the Jacksonville Jaguars before turning to coaching.
Kelly was a graduate coach with the University of Oklahoma and Kansas State University. Kelly has also coached with the University of Arizona and served as Trinity Valley Community College’s Defensive Line Coach.
Jeff Kelly is a graduate of Kansas State University. He has a daughter, Kennedy, and is originally from Texas.
