The Fort Scott Greyhounds traveled to Norfolk Nebraska this past weekend to compete against three nationally ranked teams. Greyhounds finished 1 and 3 on the weekend facing Southeast Nebraska, Kirkwood, Central Nebraska and Northeast Nebraska.
The 'Hounds beat Southeast in 3 with scores of 25-17, 25-19 and 25-16. Leading scorers for the Greyhounds were sophomore Mykah Wingertedr and Brittany Barnekoff. Wingerter totaled 6 kills on the match while Barnekoff recorded 5. Barnkeoff also had 5 blocks, while teammate Emily Jackson recorded 12 digs.
In the second match of the day, the Greyhounds faced the home team Northeast Nebraska. The 'Hounds lost in 4 with scores of 14-25, 27-29, 25-21, 21-25. Greyhounds recorded 30 total kills in the match. Barnekoff totaled 19 and Wingerter had 14. Abbie Casper tallied 25 digs on the match while teammate Emily Jackson recorded 16.
On Saturday the 'Hounds faced Kirkwood and Central Nebraska. The Greyhounds came up short against Kirkwood losing in 3 sets with the scores of 18-25, 17-25 and 16-25. Hana Ronnebaum lead the team with 9 kills and 8 digs.
Central Nebraska was the last match of the day and the Greyhounds fell short in 5 sets with the scores 18-25, 25-21, 25-21, 23-25, 15-17. The Greyhounds totaled 56 kills in the final match with Brittany Barnekoff having 17 of them. Hana Ronnebaum added 14 while teammate Mykah Wingerter had 11. Abbie Casper recorded 28 digs and 1 ace.
The Greyhounds will face Ottawa JV on September 5th in Ottawa Kansas.
