Game 1 Recap
Jaret Nelson came the ballpark and meant business on Thursday, driving in four on three hits to lead Fort Scott past Coffeyville Community College 21-10 on Thursday. Nelson drove in runs on a grand slam in the second.An early lead helped propel The Greyhounds to victory. The Hounds scored on a home run by Evann Long in the first inning, a single by Ayden Slott in the second inning, and a grand slam by Nelson in the second inning.
Fort Scott took the lead for good with six runs in the second inning. In the second Slott singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run and Nelson homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring four runs.
Coffeyville Community College scored three runs in the third inning. Gundelfinger, Bell, and Massey each had RBIs in the big inning.
Alex Johnson got the win for Fort Scott. The fireballer went two and two-thirds innings, allowing eight runs on seven hits and striking out one. Jett Feltman threw four and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen. Feltman recorded the last 13 outs to earn the save for The Hounds.
Leiker took the loss for Coffeyville Community College. The hurler went three and two-thirds innings, allowing 11 runs on 13 hits and striking out one.
Fort Scott tallied five home runs on the day. Long had a long ball in the first inning. Nelson went deep in the second inning. Joey Little went for the long ball in the third and seventh innings. Noah Wilkinson went yard in the fourth inning.
Fort Scott racked up 20 hits in the game. Little, Long, Carson Carpenter, Nelson, Blake Wilson, Slott, and Wilkinson each had multiple hits for Fort Scott Greyhounds Varsity. Little went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Fort Scott in hits.
Game 2 Recap
The Fort Scott Greyhounds nabbed the lead late in the game in an 8-5 victory over Coffeyville Community College on Thursday. The game was tied at five with Fort Scott batting in the top of the ninth when Evann Long singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. FSCC earned the victory despite allowing Coffeyville Community College to score three runs in the sixth inning. The offensive firepower by Coffeyville Community College was led by Moody, and Bell, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Coffeyville Community College got on the board in the first inning when Wyatt Foley induced Holton to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.
Coffeyville Community College evened things up at five in the bottom of the sixth inning. Bell drew a walk, scoring one run.
Peyton Medeiros earned the win for Fort Scott. The pitcher went two and a third innings, allowing zero runs on two hits, striking out two and walking one. Logan Boenker and Easten Smith entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Smith recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Fort Scott.
Noah Wilkinson led Fort Scott Greyhounds Varsity with two hits in four at bats.
Coffeyville Community College scattered eight hits in the game. Moody and Gundelfinger each collected multiple hits for Coffeyville Community College.
The Hounds are back in action this Saturday at Lions Field as they will host Coffeyville in a double header. First pitch at 1:00.
