Game 1 Recap
Brody Szako was clutch at the plate with ducks on the pond on Saturday, driving in four on three hits to lead The Fort Scott Greyhounds past Colby Community College 8-1 on Saturday. Szako drove in runs on a home run in the fourth and a single in the fifth. Fort Scott got things moving in the first inning, when Evann Long doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.
The Greyhounds put up three runs in the fourth inning. Fort Scott scored its runs on an RBI home run by Szako.
Alex Johnson was the winning pitcher for The Hounds. The hurler went five innings, allowing zero runs on three hits, striking out four and walking one. Jett Feltman threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Smith took the loss for Colby Community College. The pitcher lasted four innings, allowing eight hits and five runs while striking out six.
Game 2 Recap
The base paths were crowded today for both offenses in a high-scoring game where Fort Scott came out on top against Colby Community College, 13-9.
In the second inning, Colby Community College got their offense started when Harriot singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. Peyton Medeiros was credited with the victory for The Hounds. The hurler lasted two innings, allowing six hits and two runs while walking one. Easten Smith and Logan Boenker entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Smith recorded the last eight outs to earn the save for the Greyhounds.
Iberle took the loss for Colby Community College. The hurler lasted two innings, allowing nine hits and seven runs while walking zero. Wyatt Foley started the game for FSCC. The ace surrendered two runs on one hit over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking one. FSCC hit two home runs on the day. Carson Carpenter had a dinger in the second inning. Joey Little put one out in the third inning.
Game 3 Recap
Brody Szako was clutch at the plate with runners on base on Sunday, driving in four on three hits to lead the Greyhounds past Colby Community College 14-9 on Sunday. Szako drove in runs on a home run in the first, a triple in the fourth, and a home run in the sixth. Both pitching staffs had their hands full, frequently dealing with runners on base. Fort Scott collected 16 hits and Colby Community College had 14.
Fort Scott opened up scoring in the first inning, when Szako hit a solo homer. Colby Community College scored four runs in the eighth inning. Vulcano, Major, and Roth all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Eric Tapia was the winning pitcher for Fort Scott. The bulldog went four innings, allowing zero runs on three hits, striking out two and walking zero. Gavin Brummund, Szako, and Jon Stanley all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory. Gregor took the loss for Colby Community College. The bulldog went four innings, allowing nine runs on 12 hits, striking out four and walking zero.
Fort Scott launched three home runs on the day. Szako had a four bagger in the first and sixth innings. Carson Carpenter had a dinger in the first inning.
Fort Scott saw the ball well today, racking up 16 hits in the game. Szako, Joey Little, Blake Wilson, Carpenter, and Jaret Nelson all had multiple hits for Fort Scott. Little and Szako each managed three hits to lead Fort Scott. FSCC didn't commit a single error in the field. Nelson had ten chances in the field, the most on the team.
