Game 1 Recap
The Greyhounds effort to come back from down six runs in the tenth inning came up just short, as they fell 11-10 to Johnson County on Friday. Fort Scott Greyhounds Varsity scored six runs in the failed comeback on a double by Jaret Nelson, a single by Carson Carpenter, a walk by Noah Wilkinson, a walk by Joey Little, and a single by Brody Szako.
The Hounds opened up scoring in the third inning, when Ayden Slott singled on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs.
Fort Scott evened things up at ten in the bottom of the tenth inning. Szako singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.
Johnson got the win for Johnson County. The pitcher went two innings, allowing zero runs on three hits, striking out four and walking one.
Jon Stanley took the loss for Fort Scott Greyhounds Varsity. Stanley lasted one inning, allowing zero hits and one run while striking out one.
Nutter started the game for Johnson County. Nutter went three and a third innings, allowing three runs on seven hits and striking out two Eric Tapia started the game for Fort Scott Greyhounds Varsity. Tapia went four innings, allowing zero runs on one hit and striking out one
Johnson County hit two home runs on the day. Luikart had a homer in the seventh inning. Hepburn went for the long ball in the tenth inning.
The Hounds racked up 16 hits on the day. Szako, Nick Jones, Nelson, Blake Wilson, and Carpenter each collected multiple hits for Fort Scott Greyhounds Varsity. Nelson, Jones, and Szako each managed three hits to lead Fort Scott Greyhounds Varsity.
Game 2 Recap
Fort Scott fought back after falling down by eight runs in the seventh inning. The comeback fell just short though, in a 10-8 defeat to Johnson County on Friday. Fort Scott scored six runs in the failed comeback on a double by Brody Szako, a home run by Evann Long, and a home run by Carson Carpenter.
The Hounds fell behind early in the loss. Johnson County scored on a double by Luikart in the first inning, a groundout by Mcgahan in the first inning, and a sacrifice fly by Rader in the second inning.
Johnson County got things started in the first inning. Luikart doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
FSCC tallied seven runs in the seventh inning. The offensive firepower by Fort Scott was led by Szako, Long, and Carpenter, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Johnson County scored five runs in the sixth inning. The offensive firepower by Johnson County was led by Hufft, Luikart, Callahan, and Mcgahan, all driving in runs in the frame.
Gavin Brummund took the loss for Fort Scott Greyhounds Varsity. Brummund lasted five and a third innings, allowing nine hits and nine runs while striking out one.
Fort Scott hit two home runs on the day. Carpenter had a long ball in the seventh inning. Long went for the long ball in the seventh inning.
Fort Scott racked up 12 hits on the day. Szako, Long, Blake Wilson, and Ayden Slott each had multiple hits for Fort Scott Greyhounds Varsity. Slott, Wilson, Long, and Szako all had two hits to lead Fort Scott Greyhounds Varsity.
