Hounds fall to Southwestern CC

Game 1 Recap

Fort Scott Greyhounds took their game in dramatic walk-off fashion winning 5-4, thanks to a walk-off single at the end of the game to topple Southwestern Community College.  The game was tied at four with Fort Scott Greyhounds Varsity batting in the bottom of the seventh when Jaret Nelson singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

The Greyhounds was boosted by Nelson who went 4-for-4 at the plate.  Nelson singled in the second, homered in the fourth, doubled in the sixth, and singled in the seventh.

The Hounds evened things up at four in the bottom of the sixth inning when Nelson doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.

Alex Johnson was credited with the victory for Fort Scott Greyhounds Varsity. The bulldog allowed one hit and zero runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out five.

Boynton was on the hill for Southwestern Community College. Boynton went four and a third innings, allowing three runs on four hits, striking out three and walking zero.  Chirinos entered the game as relief, throwing one and two-thirds innings.

Logan Boenker started the game for Fort Scott Greyhounds Varsity. The hurler went two and a third innings, allowing four runs on five hits and striking out one

Fort Scott tallied two home runs on the day. Nelson went deep in the fourth inning. Ayden Slott went yard in the fifth inning.

Game 2 Recap

The Greyhounds watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 13-3 loss to Southwestern Community College on Saturday.  Southwestern Community College took the lead on a single in the first inning.

Fort Scott struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Southwestern Community College, giving up 13 runs.

Southwestern Community College fired up the offense in the first inning, when Hedger singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.

Amador was the winning pitcher for Southwestern Community College. The hurler allowed five hits and three runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out five.  Colon threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Jon Stanley took the loss for Fort Scott. The hurler surrendered six runs on six hits over three innings, striking out one and walking one.

Game 3 Recap

Fort Scott watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 6-4 loss to Southwestern Community College on Sunday.  Southwestern Community College scored on an error and a sacrifice fly by Vernon in the first inning.

Southwestern Community College got things started in the first inning when an error scored one run for Southwestern Community College.

Fardoa got the win for Southwestern Community College. The ace lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out three and walking one. 

Gavin Brummund took the loss for the Hounds. The pitcher allowed four hits and four runs over two innings, striking out one and walking zero.

Game 4 Recap

Despite a 4-run deficit in the fifth inning, Fort Scott s almost came all the way back, eventually falling 5-4 to Southwestern Community College on Sunday.  Fort Scott scored three runs in the failed comeback on a single by Ayden Slott and a single by Blake Wilson.

The Greyhounds fell behind early in the loss.  Southwestern Community College scored on a walk by Stark and a single by Barber in the second inning.

Amador was on the pitcher's mound for Southwestern Community College. The hurler went four innings, allowing three runs on six hits, striking out two and walking one.

Eric Tapia was on the hill for Fort Scott. Tapia surrendered three runs on three hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four.  Jett Feltman and Gavin Shearer entered the game from the bullpen, throwing three innings and one-third of an inning respectively.
