Game 1 Recap

Jaret Nelson showed timely hitting on Wednesday, driving in seven on three hits to lead Fort Scott Greyhounds Varsity past Baker University 18-7 on Wednesday.  Nelson drove in runs on a home run in the second, a home run in the fourth, and a grand slam in the fifth.

Baker University scored five runs in the fifth inning, but the Greyhounds still managed to pull out the victory.  Roush, Gietzen, and Bowers all drove in runs in the frame.

The Hounds got things started in the first inning when Brody Szako hit a solo homer.

FSCC notched eight runs in the fourth inning.  The rally was led by doubles by Joey Little, Jessie Moreno, and Joe Ricchio, a single by Blake Wilson, a home run by Nelson, and a groundout by Szako.

Alex Johnson was the winning pitcher for Fort Scott. The bulldog allowed four hits and two runs over four innings, striking out seven.  Zach Nelson threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Fort Scott thumped four home runs on the day. Szako had a dinger in the first inning. Nelson went for the long ball in the second, fourth, and fifth innings.

Fort Scott tallied 18 hits.  Wilson, Nelson, Szako, Moreno, Little, and Ricchio each managed multiple hits for Fort Scott Greyhounds Varsity.  Wilson went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead The Fort Scott Greyhounds in hits. 

 

Game 2 Recap

Brody Szako was an RBI machine on Wednesday, driving in four on two hits to lead Fort Scott past Baker University 16-4 on Wednesday.  Szako drove in runs on a grand slam in the third.

The Greyhounds grabbed an early lead.  Fort Scott scored on a single by Blake Wilson, a double by Carson Carpenter, and a single by Jessie Moreno in the first inning.

Fort Scott tallied six runs in the third inning.  FSCC 's big inning was driven by a walk by Jaret Nelson, a sac fly by Ayden Slott, and a home run by Szako.

Carter Phillips earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for the Hounds. The hurler surrendered one run on one hit over three innings, striking out three and walking zero.  Szako, Brayton Wilmes, and Cannon Frazier all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory.

Bergman toed the rubber for Baker University. Bergman lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing ten hits and ten runs while striking out one. 

Fort Scott tallied two home runs on the day. Szako went for the long ball in the third inning. Joey Little had a homer in the second inning.

The Hounds are back in action this Sunday at Lions Field as the play host to Ottawa JV, first pitch is at 1:00.
