Baseball takes 3 of 4 from Highland

Baseball had a successful series the past week, taking 3 our of 4 games from Jayhawk Conference rival Highland Community College.  

Game one saw the Greyhounds win by the score of 11-4 after a big 6th innning that saaw the Hounds push across 6 runs.  The long ball was working as Dylan Kurahasi-Choi-Foo, Carter Dobrinski, and Jakob Machuca each homered for the Hounds.   Grant Jones and Tyler Gorman each chipped in with 2 hits while the hounds totaled 12 hits on the game.  On the mound,  Charlie Bell went 5 innings allowing 9 hits and 4ER while striking out 6.  Charlie Kiefer and Austin Neal finished off the Scotties by pitching consecutive hitless innings.

Game two saw the Hounds put up 11 runs in the second inning winning 13-3.  The Scotties had a difficult time getting the ball across the plate as the Hounds walked a total of 9 times as a team.  The Hounds again got a home run from Dylan Kurahasi-Choy-Foo, his fourth of the season.  Local Fort Scott High School standout Alec Michaud hit a grand slam in the second, his second home run on the season.  Cole White led the Hounds on the mound, pitching 6.2 innings allowing only 3 hits and 2ER while striking out 4.  

The Hounds traveled to Highland for games three and four of the series.  Game three saw a barage of 4 solo HR from the Hounds on the way to a 5-1 victory (Kurahasi-Choy-Foo (5), Holt (3) , Skaggs (6), Clark (1).  Spencer Nelson was dominant on the mound, throwing 5.2 innings allowing only 3 hits and 1ER while striking out 5.  Austin Neal finished the game with 1.1 innings of no-hit ball while striking out 3.  

The Hounds put up 10 runs in the series finale, but it wasn't enough as the Scotties won 12-10.  The hounds collected 11 hits and 3 HR, led by Peyton Messenger who went 2-4 with 4 RBI.

FSCC will travel to Neosho County CC to face the conference rival Panthers on Thursday and then will return home for the back end of the series on Saturda (1pm/4pm).
