Greyhound Baseball Countdown 9 Days

Greyhound Baseball Countdown 9 Days

9 days now remain until the Greyhound Baseball season opener. Today, and all season long the program will honor Blake Shepard from Ponca City, Oklahoma. Blake passed away this fall in a tragic car accident. In his short time with the program, he made a lasting impression on the coaches and players. Head Coach John Hill III shared his thoughts on Blake Shepard:

"We were only fortunate to have Blake in our program for five weeks. However, in that time, it was apparent that Blake was a special person as well as baseball player. Our coaching staff already envisioned him playing 3B & 1B as well as possibly SS and being a mainstay in the middle of our lineup. Our coaches and players are honored to have had the privilege to coach and play with Blake for that short time. He was the perfect fit for this program as a person, student and baseball player. Though his time with us was short, we will honor, respect and speak of Blake often moving forward as a program and his memory will help countless players on our current and future teams."

Greyhound Baseball is set to begin its season February 13th against Cloud County at the LaRoche Complex in Fort Scott. Game time is set for 1:00.
