The American Volleyball Coaches Association announced today that Fort Scott Community College's Volleyball Team was awarded the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2011-12 season. The award honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.
The Greyhound Volleyball Team was one of only thirteen NJCAA programs to earn this award. "I am so proud of our young ladies. We set academic goals in August and I am proud that they reached those goals," stated Head Coach Lindsay Hill.
This award comes just weeks after being named as one of the top programs in the 2011-12 NJCAA Volleyball All-Academic Teams.
