Head Coach Lindsay Hill announced today that two more seniors have signed NJCAA National Letters of Intent with the Greyhound Volleyball program. Bridget McGuire and Danielle Walker will join Sarah Williams, Topeka, Jacy Ermel, Uniontown, and Haylee Toothman, Shawnee in 2012.
McGuire is a 5-8 setter from Cherokee, Kansas. She played high school volleyball for Southeast High School, coached by Maya White. She also plays club volleyball for PK Star Aquila, coached by Jenny Mueller. McGuire has helped lead her high school team to back to back state tournament appearances. She was also selected 1st Team All Conference, selected on the All County Team, received All County Player of the Year, and was named The Morning Sun's Setter of the Year. McGuire has also maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout high school, in National Honor Society, and is her Senior Class President. She plans to major in Business Management. "I wanted to continue my volleyball career and I feel like Coach Hill will help push me to the next level," stated McGuire.
"Bridget is going to shock a lot of people next year. She has a tremendous work ethic, great leadership skills and has her best volleyball years ahead of her. I am excited to work with Bridget; I think she will do great things at FSCC. She is exactly what every coach looks for in a setter," said Coach Hill.
Walker is a 5-8 outside hitter from Joplin, Missouri. She played high school volleyball for Joplin High School, coached by Staci Saunders. She also plays club volleyball for PK Star Aquila, coached by Jenny Mueller. Walker received All Conference honors and well as 2011 MVP. Walker has maintained a 4.2 GPA throughout high school and will be majoring in Pre-Law. "I chose FSCC because I believe it will allow me to develop into a better athlete and volleyball player," stated Walker.
"Danielle is a very strong athlete, with a lot of great volleyball skills. She jumps so well for her size and has a strong competitive side. Danielle can hit from anywhere on the court, making her a threat in the front and back court. She is a strong defensive/serve receive passer, so I look forward to taking her game to the next level," commented Coach Hill.
This makes the class of 2012 five strong. Coach Hill plans to add a few more student/athletes to the 2012 class to wrap up the recruiting year.
