The Lady Hounds swept Neosho County Community College on Tuesday, as they captured 14-1 and 6-5 victories in the KJCCC double header.
FSCC jumped out early in game one, not allowing the 30-40 mph winds affect them. A Grand Slam by KC Beardsley started the rally for the Lady Hounds in the first inning. Following the four run blast, an RBI single by Cheyenne Brewer knocked in another. An RBI by Beardsley and Kaylee Bart, as well as a two-run home run by Aubrey Smith, fueled the four run second inning. FSCC tacked on another run in the third and four more in the fourth. The fourth inning got off to a hot start when McKenzie Hersh singled, plating Chelsea Snyder.
The Lady Hounds recorded 12 hits in the victory. KC Beardsley led FSCC's offense racking up six RBIs on three hits in four at bats. Aubrey Smith recorded the win in the circle. She allowed one run over five innings and struck out three.
Game two resulted in the second KJCCC win for FSCC. The Lady Hounds and Neosho County passed the lead back and forth six times in the 6-5 win. Neosho County started the offensive battle in the second inning grabbing the early lead, 1-0. They Lady Hounds turned around a produced a 3 run third inning. Chelsea Snyder and Cheyenne Brewer both singled, Alex Perez was hit by a pitch and McKenzie Hersh walked to plate the first run. Kristen Tyler then singled to bring in Brewer and Perez.
FSCC posted one run in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Neosho County scored three runs of its own in the fourth. The Lady Hounds didn't relinquish the lead after the sixth inning when Mikayla Ussery singled, driving in the winning run. Amber Sutton got the win for Lady Greyhounds. She allowed four runs over 4 innings. She struck out two, walked none and surrendered eight hits. Kia Boyd earned her first save of the year in 3 innings of relief pitching. She struck out two, walked none and gave up two hits.
The Lady Hounds return to action on Thursday, hosting East Central College at 2:00 & 4:00.
