Lady Greyhounds Top North Central Texas College

The Lady Greyhounds lit up the scoreboard on Saturday afternoon as 26 Greyhound hits drove 18 runs across in the seven inning offensive battle against North Central Texas College.

The Lady Greyhounds easily handled North Central Texas College pitching as the nine starting hitters in the lineup combined for 24 hits, 16 RBIs and 16 runs scored.

The top of the first saw Lady Greyhounds take an early lead, 3-0. The Lady Greyhounds' offense woke up as McKenzie Hersh tripled before Alex Perez singled, plating Hersh. The 

Lady Hounds pushed more runs across when Perez scored on a two-run home run by Kristen Tyler.

In the third, Lady Greyhounds scored again on a two-run single by Cheyenne Brewer, plating Kaylan Morgan and KC Beardsley.

The game was back-and-forth heading into the fifth, with four lead changes. The Lady Greyhounds grabbed the lead once again, after a strong fifth inning. The Lady Hounds scored on an RBI double by Perez, bringing home Brewer.

The Lady Greyhounds scored seven runs in the sixth inning on a solo home run by Kaylan Morgan, a two-run single by Perez, a three-run home run by Allison Davis, and a solo home run by Taylor Brecheisen.

"I was very proud of our hitters and the way they took control in the box today," said Head Coach Kristin Janes. "I'm pretty sure 26 hits in a single game is a program record. It was a complete team effort to win that game from start to finish and I couldn't be more pleased with our offense today."

Kaylee Bart recorded the win for the Lady Greyhounds over six innings. Bart struck out 10, walked four and gave up three earned runs.

Game Two of the day against Rose State College was suspended due to light. The game will resume at 12:00pm on Sunday in the top of the sixth inning, with a score of 13-9 in favor of Rose State.
