The Lady Greyhound Softball team started off the season on top with a sweep of Ottawa University JV on Wednesday with scores of 8-0 in six innings, and 8-6.
In game one, the Lady Greyhounds scored four runs in the fourth on Lady Greyhounds singles by Kaylan Morgan and Allison Davis, and an RBI double by Taylor Brecheisen.
Morgan was on fire going 3-4, driving in one and scoring one.
Sophomore Kaylee Bart kept Ottawa JV off the scoreboard for all six innings she was in the circle. She pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on three hits while striking out six.
Game two was a success thanks to a second strong offensive outing. The Lady Greyhounds scored on a solo home run shot to right field by Taylor Brecheisen in the third. Brecheisen also collected two extra-base hits for Lady Greyhounds in the game. More offensive support came in the fifth when the Hounds scored on an RBI single by KC Beardsley, an RBI single by Alex Perez, and an RBI single by McKenzie Hersh.
Aubrey Smith recorded the win for Lady Greyhounds. She allowed four runs over six solid innings. Smith also went 3-4 at the plate, driving in two. Amber Sutton made her season debut in the seventh to close out the double header for FSCC in the circle.
"Today was a great start to our season," said Head Coach Kristin Janes. "The ladies came out swinging, ready to score from the beginning. Our defense was solid behind our pitchers and I'm proud of the full team effort given to take the sweep."
