Head Volleyball Coach Lindsay Hill has announced the signing of three student-athletes. Terina Harris, Tristen Patterson, and Sharla Quick have signed Letters of Intent to be a Greyhound for the 2013 season.
Terina Harris is a 5-4 Libero from Porter, TX. Harris attends Porter High School and was coached by Chrissy Engle. Harris was named Academic All-District, Athlete of the Month, Team MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, Second Team All District, and she was an Honor Roll student. She also participated in basketball and played club volleyball for Lisa Gallagher. Harris chose FSCC, "Because of the way the community is with the team, because of the coaches and the way they run their program, the girls on the team, and the size of the school." She also wanted to say to everyone, "Go Hounds!" Harris intends to major in Accounting and Education. She is the daughter of Melissa and Russell Harris.
"Terina is a solid ball control player and a great serve receive passer. She has the potential to be a great leader for our program next year. Terina has so much drive and spunk on the court, which is perfect for her position," stated Head Coach Lindsay Hill.
Tristen Patterson is a 5-9 Middle Blocker from Lockwood, MO. She attends Lockwood High School and was coached by Jamie Roschevitz. Patterson plays club ball for Springfield Juniors and is coached by Lisiane Mastdorff. She was named First Team All-District, First Team All-Conference, and First Team All-Region. Patterson also participated in FCCLA, FBLA, Yearbook, Tutoring, and she ran Track. She commented on her signing that, "FSCC seems like a good school and I really like the volleyball program." Her intended major is physical therapy. She is the daughter of Todd Patterson and Kim Whitesell.
"Tristen is another tremendous athlete in this freshman class. She still has her best volleyball years ahead of her. Tristen learns very quickly and will be a versatile athlete for us," commented Coach Hill.
Sharla Quick is a 5-6 Outside Hitter and Defensive Specialist from Nevada, MO. She attends Nevada High School and was coached by Ashley Thoreson. Quick was Freshman MVP in 2009, she was named Second Team All-District in 2012, and had the most digs in her 2012 season. She also participated in track and played club volleyball for Kymee Bair. "I chose Fort Scott because it was a great school and had an amazing volleyball program." Her intended major is Business and Nursing. She is the daughter of Ryan and Lola Quick.
"Sharla is one of those athletes that plays much bigger than her size. She has great ball control and is has a high volleyball IQ. I am excited about Sharla, as she is considered a 'hometown' kid coming from Nevada. She will compete as a six rotation kid for us next year," said Coach Hill.
