The Greyhound Volleyball Team improved to 9-1 on the season and 2-0 in district play after sweeping the Hesston Larks on Wednesday. It was a quick win by the Lady Hounds, with the scores of 25-14, 25-20, 25-16.
The Greyhounds were led by sophomore middle blocker Ashley Bell with 12 kills, followed by sophomore outside Ali Cure and freshman outside Jacy Ermel, each whom put up 10 kills a piece. Sophomore setter Taylyn Schwartz, who earned KJCCC Player of the week honors, had 41 assists and sophomore libero Kate Smith added 14 digs.
Yesterday the NJCAA released their first poll of the season, with the Greyhounds finding themselves ranked #16 in DII Volleyball.
"I am so proud of these young ladies. They are getting the recognition and respect that I knew they should. It has been a while since Fort Scott has seen this kind of success in volleyball and we are all proud to be a Greyhound," stated Head Coach Lindsay Hill.
The Lady Hounds will travel to Oklahoma this weekend, taking on NEO in Miami, OK on Friday at 6pm and St. Gregory's on Saturday at 11am.
