Hounds Volleyball Sign Two More Student/Athletes

Head Coach Lindsay Hill announced today that two more seniors have signed NJCAA National Letters of Intent with the Greyhound Volleyball program. Danielle Rubow and Shelby Boxberger make the sixth and seventh signees for the program for 2012.

Rubow is a 6-1 middle from Chanute, Kansas. Rubow is the daughter of Chuck and Faye Rubow. She played high school volleyball for Chanute High School, coached by Gail Peterson. She plays club volleyball for FS Juniors, coached by Taylyn Schwartz. Rubow helped lead her high school team to a State Tournament appearance this past season. Rubow plans to major in Athletic Training or Physical Therapy. "I feel Coach Hill and the Volleyball Program was my best option to take my volleyball career to the next level," stated Rubow.

"Dani is a tremendous athlete that has not even tipped her potential. I have had the opportunity to watch Dani grow since she was very young. With our training program, Dani will be putting up some big numbers. I am very excited to watch her progress," said Coach Hill.

Boxberger is a 5-9 outside hitter/middle from Fort Worth, Texas. Boxberger is the daughter of Kurt and Melody Boxberger. She went to high school at Boswell High School. Boxberger plays club for SVA Volleyball Club, coached by Dana Moore. Boxberger was named to the 4A Academic All-District Team and helped lead her team to Top 10 finishes in the North Texas Region four out of the last five years. In 2010 her club team placed first in the Lonestar National Qualifier and participated in the National Junior Olympics in Reno, NV. Her current club teamed is ranked fifth in the North Texas Region, which is considered one of the top volleyball regions in the USA. Boxberger plans to major in Physical Therapy. "After visiting a lot of schools, I felt Fort Scott was the right fit for me. I like the school and really love that everyone is close with one another. I also feel that Coach Hill really cares about the academic growth of the team and each player. She also demands the best out of her players on and off the court. I feel really blessed to be a part of a great program and school," stated Boxberger.

"Shelby is a huge addition to our program. She is a difference maker, someone who will take our program to a higher level. Shelby has great ball control skills, she can move the ball around, she is very versatile as to where she can play, and she has played a very high level of club. Shelby will have a tremendous career at Fort Scott, very excited to have her part of our team," said Coach Hill.

Coach Hill commented on the 2012 class, "This very well could be my strongest class that I have ever recruited. We are very excited to get them here in August to join our 2011 class. We have planned a much tougher schedule, which will test our team. It is an exciting time to be a part of the Greyhound Volleyball Program."
