Big Second Quarter Lifts KCK Over Lady Hounds

The Fort Scott Community College women's basketball team put together three solid quarters against Kansas City Kansas Community College on Saturday afternoon on the road but the second quarter proved to be the difference as KCK defeated the Lady Hounds 75-59.

KCK powered through the second quarter outscoring FSCC 24-8 which led to a 36-18 halftime lead for the Blue Devils. The other three quarters saw the Lady Hounds and KCK play even ball.

Injuries and sickness have played a big role, not only this season but especially in the last couple of weeks as well.

Three Greyhounds finished in double figures led by Jada Perry with 16 points and seven assists. Arkiarra Clark and Sarah Kelley finished with 13 and 10 points respectively. Shalina Harper led the bench production as she tallied eight points with two made three pointers.

FSCC shot 39% from the field in the game and hit just four of 17 from three point range.

KCK was led in scoring by Kisi Young with 20 points and 10 rebounds. KCK out-rebounded FSCC 50-29 in the ball game.

FSCC falls to 12-13 overall and 0-6 in conference play.

The Greyhounds close out the regular season with home games against Johnson County and Highland on Wednesday and Saturday respectively this week.
