The Fort Scott Community College men's and women's basketball teams were in action on Monday night in Topeka against Washburn JV with the Greyhounds picking up a split in the two contests.
In the first game, the Greyhound women fell to the lady Icabods 78-55. FSCC got off to a good start leading 12-8 after the first quarter but Washburn JV would outscore the lady Hounds 29-14 in the second quarter and would control the ball game the rest of the way.
Two players finished in double figures for FSCC led by Colleen Smith who put together her best game of the season finishing with a game high 15 points to go along with five rebounds and two steals. Arkiarra Clark also finished the game in double figures with 12 points and five rebounds.
The Lady Hounds shot nearly 45% from the floor but Washburn JV would hit eight more three's in the game.
The women head into the holiday break at .500 at 7-7 overall.
In the second game, the men would pick up a high scoring win 89-77. FSCC would dominate the first half leading 58-35 at the break and that was more than enough to secure the win despite being outscored by 11 in the second half.
Tyler Zinn continues his fantastic season finishing with a game high 29 points to go along with eight steals, six assists and four rebounds. Three other players finished in double figures for the Greyhounds as Daemar Jones and Jayden Davis finished with 14 points each and Andre Nelson chipped in with 12 points.
FSCC was scorching offensively hitting nearly 57% of its shots including a blistering 13 of 22 from three point range.
The men head into the holiday break at 9-7 overall and both teams will be back in action after the New Year.
