Lady Hounds Go 0-2 in Iowa Western Classic

The Greyhounds traveled up to Council Bluffs, Iowa to compete in the Iowa Western Classic. On Friday November 30th they tipped off at 1:00pm against Iowa Lakes. The Hounds got off to a very slow start were down by 14 points at halftime. After some halftime adjustments, the Hounds were able to hold Iowa Lakes to only 20 points in the second half. With a little under four minutes left in the game, Fort Scott had a chance to cut the lead to three points on a fast break but was unable to convert.

"We definitely got off to a slow start offensively in this game and in the end, that's what allowed Iowa Lakes to defeat us. We did a great job in the second half defensively and I hope that carries over into our future games," said Coach Reihmann.

The second game at the Iowa Western Classic was against the home opponent and #5 Ranked Iowa Western at 5:00pm on Saturday December 1st. The Hounds got off to a better start in this game and were within ten points in the first half before an Iowa Western run right before the half extended their lead. During the second half, the Hounds were unable to get much scoring going to cut into the Iowa Western lead.

"We came out much better in this game, both on the offense and defensive ends of the floor. We just couldn't hold Iowa Western down for much of the game. I saw many positives in this game, we put some players at positions they haven't had much experience at and they did well so I look forward to getting back to practice this week and see what we can do to prepare for our next four games before break," commented Coach Reihmann.

The Greyhounds are back in action on Wednesday December 5th at Wentworth in Lexington, Missouri. Tipoff is at 5:30pm followed for the Men's Basketball team at 7:30pm.
