The Fort Scott Community College Basketball teams traveled to Hesston for their first road game of the season. The Lady Greyhounds had their first loss of the season. In the first half, Fort Scott allowed Hesston to jump out to an early lead, but the Hounds were able to cut that lead to one at half time.
In the second half, Fort Scott came out and hit a couple shots right away and was able to take over the lead. They maintained it for much of the second half until the last minute and a half. That's when Hesston made a few plays down the stretch that turned that game back into their favor. With eight seconds left, the Hounds had the ball and an opportunity to tie the game with a 3 point shot, but were unable to execute.
"We were just a couple plays away from coming away with this win on the road. I am proud of the way our team fought back into the game and take the lead in the second half. We didn't execute a few plays and Hesston did and that decided the game. It was our first time on the road this season and playing on someone else's home court didn't seem to bother the team. That's something to look forward to as we have a stretch of road games coming up," said Coach Reihmann.
The women's basketball team will be back in action Friday night at Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri. Tipoff is set for 6:00pm.
