3-3 Week Leads Lady Hounds into KJCCC Conference Play

The Lady Hounds went 3-3 in week four of the 2017 season, earning wins against State Fair Community College 13-4 Wednesday, March 1st, and North Arkansas, Friday, March 3rd,  18-3 and 10-2.

At State Fair, the Lady Hounds dropped game one 11-12 in an offensive battle. FSCC collected 16 hits with Taylor Brecheisen (Rossville, KS) picking up 3 hits, while Hayley Bledsoe (Rogersville, MO), Cheyenne Brewer (Nevada, MO) Kaylan Morgan (Chelsea, OK), Lauren Scott (Kansas City, MO), and Aubrey Smith (Yates Center, KS) each picked up two. 

In game two, the Lady Hounds came out swinging once again, picking up the win 13-4. Leading the offensive charge was Scott, driving in six runs on three hits, including two home runs.  FSCC jumped out to an early lead scoring four in the first. A double by Aimee Wimp (Oswego, KS) started the inning, followed by a single by Cheyenne Brewer. A single by Bledsoe drove in Wimp and Brewer, followed by the first two run blast by Scott.

The Lady Hounds added another run in the second and fourth innings. In the third Scott drove in two more on her second home run of the game. The big offensive inning came in the sixth, when FSCC pushed five runs across. Michaela Brewer started the inning with a single, followed by another from Wimp. Morgan doubled to score Brewer, while Scott singled to score Wimp and Morgan. Allie Rooks (Lathrop, MO) added another single to the books, followed by Brecheisen with a two run double, driving in Scott and Rooks.

Bledsoe earned the win in the circle, tossing five innings. She gave up zero runs, three hits, and struck out one. Wimp came in for relief, throwing one inning, giving up 2 hits, four runs and striking out three.

In the second double header of the week, FSCC swept North Arkansas 18-3 and 10-2. Once again, the Lady Hounds swung the bats extremely well producing 20 hits in game one and 10 in game two. Amongst the 30 total hits, FSCC generated 8 doubles and a triple. Jenna Nevius (Spring Hill, KS) and Wimp collected four hits between the two games, while Bledsoe, Brecheisen, Morgan, Rooks, and Scott each produced three.

The game one winner on the mound was Bledsoe. She gave up 5 hits, 3 runs, and struck out 3 in 5 innings of work. Wimp captured the win in game two, giving up 3 hits, 2 runs and 3 striking out 3 in 5 innings of work.

In the final double header of the week, the Lady Hounds dropped the pair to Maplewoods. FSCC manufactured 12 combine hits with Scott producing three and Bledsoe with two.

The Lady Hounds open conference play on Monday, March 6th at Labette Community College in Parsons, KS. The double header is set to kick off at 2:00 & 4:00.
