The Lady Greyhounds jumped out to an early lead in both games Wednesday vs. Missouri Valley JV, taking home victories 8-2 and 18-1. FSCC had hot bats all afternoon starting off with the first inning.
A Freshman Hayley Bledsoe (Rogersville, MO) single drove in Freshman Aimee Wimp (Oswego, KS) in the top of the first to spark FSCC. Sophomore Taylor Brecheisen (Rossville, KS) started off the second with a double, and later scored on a Freshman Jackie Kirkpatrick (Dewey, OK) single. Kirkpatrick and Wimp scored later in the inning, changing the score to 4-1. The final Lady Hound rally occurred in the sixth inning where singles from Kirkpatrick, Sophomore Cheyenne Brewer (Nevada, MO), and Bledsoe got the momentum for FSCC. The inning concluded with a triple from Sophomore Aubrey Smith (Yates Center, KS) and single from Freshman Lauren Scott (Kansas City, MO) to combine for three more RBI's.
Sophomore Aubrey Smith (Yates Center, KS) threw a complete game and earned the win in the circle, striking out four.
The Lady Hounds started on fire again in game two. Four runs came across the plate in the top of the first. Wimp and Brewer started the game off with back to back doubles. Bledsoe reached on an error followed by a two-run triple by Scott. The second inning had the same offensive firepower, resulting in five runs being scored by FSCC. Wimp, Scott and Brecheisen all reached by singles, while Brewer, Sophomore Kaylan Morgan (Chelsea, OK) and Freshman Taylor Remington (Nevada, MO) reached by error. Wimp started the third inning with a walk and was later driven in by a Bledsoe triple.
The last offensive push came in the fourth when the Lady Hounds scored a season high eight runs. Remington lead off the inning with a single followed by a double by Brecheisen. Remington scored on a passed ball, while Brecheisen crossed the plate on an error. Freshman Haleigh Robertson (Kansas City, MO) walked and Morgan doubled to right center field. Sophomore Pinch Hitter Jenna Nevius (Spring Hill, KS) singled up the middle to drive in Robertson and Morgan. Freshman Dallas Howard (Galena, MO) walked and Remington reached base for a second time in the inning by error. Brecheisen singled for her third hit of the game, bringing in one, followed by Kirkpatrick's' second hit of the game, bringing across the final run of the game.
It was a three Lady Hound effort in the circle. Freshman Aimee Wimp (Oswego, KS) started the game and earned the win for FSCC. She pitched two innings and struck out two. Sophomore Kia Boyd (Kansas City, KS) and Freshman Hayley Bledsoe (Rogersville, MO) threw in relief. Boyd threw one and two-thirds innings of middle relief, while Bledsoe closed the game for an inning and a third, striking out two.
The Lady Greyhounds collected 28 hits in the two-game outing. Jackie Kirkpatrick lead the team in hits with five, followed by Sophomore Taylor Brecheisen, and Freshman Lauren Scott and Aimee Wimp with four. FSCC next takes the field on Saturday, February 25 at home at 1:00 and 3:00pm against Iowa Central Community College.
