Lady Hounds Find Success at the Plate

Now that the rain and snow have finally cleared, the KJCCC conference season is now under way for the Lady Greyhound Softball Team.

"The time between our season opener back in mid-February to our conference opener at Highland seemed like months. We went from being outside in January to having our field under water and snow for the month of February," said Coach Schalk.

After a month's absence from competition, play resumed for the Lady Hounds on Friday, March 8th at Highland Community College and Saturday, March 9th at Coffeyville Community College.

The Lady Hounds broke out the conference season full steam ahead offensively. The team hit for a .355 average over the four game streak. Leading the Lady Hounds offensive strike was Catcher Jessie Camac, Short Stop Lizzie Aller and Center Fielder Kelli Cullor. Camac showed her offensive power by going 4-8 with 2 homeruns, a double, 5 RBI's, 2 runs and 2 walks. Aller displayed her speed and aggressiveness hitting 5-10 with 4 stolen bases and legging out a double. Cullor showed her consistency with a 4-8 performance with a run and double.

"The team as a whole hit very well this weekend. They stayed patient at the plate and found the right pitches to hit," said Coach Schalk.

The Lady Hounds host a trio of games, starting action off on Wednesday, March 13th at 1pm & 3pm vs. Neosho County, followed by Pratt on Friday, March 15th at 2pm & 4pm and ending with Dodge City on Saturday, March 16th at 12pm & 2pm for our Strikeout Cancer Game.

The Lady Hounds thank you for your support and hope to see you out at the ball park!
