Greyhound sophomore guard James Fleming has signed a National Letter of Intent to play with Fort Hays State University. James started in all 32 games for the Greyhounds and averaged 14 points per game along with averaging five rebounds per game.
"James will be going to a school where he can compete for the starting shooting guard position and also a program that has been successful with Coach Mark Johnson at the helm. Fort Hays plays in the MIAA conference which is a tough conference and I think James fits in perfectly," said Fort Scott Head Coach Michael Cook.
James was part of a team this year that won the first playoff win in 44 years and had a record of 10-3 at Arnold Arena this year. James was also named by the coaches 2nd Team All-Conference and 2nd Team All-Region.
"My experience at Fort Scott was good; it gave me a chance to play. Coach Cook believed in me from day one, probably more than I believed in myself at times. I got the chance to change the perception of the program and the chance to prove that I can play at this level. I chose to play at Fort Hays State, because I liked the coaches and the players that they are bringing back for next season. Coach Johnson is straight forward with me on the visit and said he wants me to be a Tiger, and thinks that I can fit in well with his program. Plus, they have a winning tradition and they play in the MIAA, which is a tough conference, " said sophomore guard James Fleming.
James will get a chance to play against KU and K-State next year on ESPN and James will continue pursuing his degree in Sport Management.
