New Players Look to Make Impact for 2012-13 Season

As the Greyhound Men's Basketball team is preparing for this upcoming season, they will only have two returning players from last year's team.  Austin Danner and Pierce Rienbolt are the only returners, both of whom saw significant playing time last year.  Austin averaged twelve points per game and three rebounds per game, while Pierce averaged only two points per game, but he played steady defense and rebounded well.  "These two young men will be looked upon for leadership this year, their roles may change a little bit this season with the new players that we have coming in," said head coach Michael Cook.

The Greyhounds signed thirteen new players to a letter of intent and will have seven walk-ons, all of whom will be vying for a spot on the roster.  The Greyhounds will also feature two local players on the team this year, Tyler Adams who played at Fort Scott High School and Gary Floyd will be back this year after taking a year off.  Some of the players that will be trying to make the fifteen man roster are Prince Samuels (Brooklyn, NY), Jordan Taylor-Menzies ( Brooklyn, NY), James Fleming (Chicago, IL), Raymond Chase (San Antonio, TX), Kevin House (Oklahoma City, OK), Chekiel Wright (Wichita, KS), CJ Hall (Gardner, KS), Jason Stoneking (Garnett, KS), Devin McBride (Oklahoma City, OK), Elijah Davis (Wilmington, DE), Jaccard Fears (Raymore-Peculiar, MO), Wes Brantley (Arkansas City, KS) and Johnathan Mefford (Keifer, OK).

"By far this is the most athletic and fastest team that I have had, which will allow us to do more on both end of the floor this year," said Cook.
