Greyhound Football Captures Upset at #20 Hutchinson

The Fort Scott Community College Football team held off a late Blue Dragon's charge on Saturday afternoon at Gowan Stadium to secure the upset over #20 Hutchinson 29-24.

Fort Scott's (4-5, 2-4) offense struggled in the first half with only 61 yards tallied through two quarters but the defense was stingy which allowed FSCC to only trail 10-7 at the break.

The momentum turned quickly in the third quarter as the Greyhound defense picked up a safety and a 44 yard touchdown pass to Jaylan Jenkins with a missed two point conversion which gave the Greyhounds the lead at 15-10 not quite five minutes into the third.

Raeqwon Morgan added an interception returned for a touchdown from 15 yards out to add to the FSCC lead in the third quarter at 22-10. The defense forced three interceptions and racked up five sacks.

Dalton Sneed would add another touchdown to his afternoon with a 44 yard strike to Braxton Curry early in the fourth quarter which blew the game open at 29-10.

Sneed would finish the game completing 23 of 43 passes for 276 yards and three touchdowns.

The 20th ranked Blue Dragons would tack on two quick scores late in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 29-24 with over three minutes left. The first score in that stretch was set up by a blocked field goal returned into the red-zone while the other was a 21 yard touchdown pass from Eric Forrest to Tavian Allen.

Fort Scott's defense would hold true late with a big sack from Tyrone Neal and Hutch failed to convert on a fourth and long as the Greyhounds picked up the victory.

The Greyhounds finished the game with 302 yards of offense while Hutch finished the game with 300 yards. FSCC will close out the season on Saturday at home against the defending national champs Garden City.
