Greyhound Football Suffers 42-14 Loss at Butler to Begin Season

The FSCC football team began the 2017 season with a 42-14 loss at Butler on Saturday night in El Dorado at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex. 

The Grizzlies began the scoring late in the first quarter with a tipped 80-yard pick six. However, the Greyhounds would respond back with a 45 yard touchdown pass from Dalton Sneed to Ed Aldred. Butler would fire back with a 12-yard touchdown to returning All-American C.J. Sims to take a 14-7 lead. A 57 yard run by Damon Bonds set up the final Greyhound touchdown which would be a short run from Sneed. 

Butler would scored 28 unanswered points including 21 in the fourth quarter. The Grizzlies finished the ball game with 430 yards of total offense while the Greyhounds slowed down in the second half putting up 298 yards. 

Sneed finished the game completing 21 of 42 passes for 186 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. Bonds led the Greyhounds on the ground with 13 carries for 91 yards. Aldred caught nine passes for 63 yards while Kyle Harrison caught seven passes for 63 yards. 

Dominic Cizauskas led the Greyhound defense with 14 total tackles. 

Fort Scott will host Independence in the home opener on Saturday night at Frary Field.
